With an honor and a responsibility of that the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (FMST) was one among 4 faculties established at the first date of Hanoi University of Technology (HUT), 1956, generations of faculty members and alumni patiently have been striving for an implementing tasks of education, research and technological transfer, continually reinforcing potentiality of teaching staff and technical infrastructure.

Nearly five thousands cadres have obtained higher education at faculty as Bachelors, Engineers, Masters and Doctors so they  have been making efficiently activities in various areas as science and technology, economics, culture, society, defense and security especially in metallurgy. Experiences have matured them greatly, some of them have  been being higher leaders in government and party or armed forces, others -known scientists and entrepreneurs.

Considerable achievements in training of Country's human resource on Metallurgy, Materials Science and Technology for over a passed half of century, the achievements in scientific research and transfer of technologies, devotions of faculty members in education & management have been contributed to creation of the prestige of Hanoi University of Technology throughout country and all over the world.

Today, FMST continues to renew academic programs, widens a scale plan of education, guarantees quality to meet a demands of people studying materials. Working conditions for faculty members, student's learning environment are gradually improved. Facilities for research and education being invested by government are suitable with development of modern science and technology.

The Faculty is ready to prepare its students for their the best with the skills, theoretical background and technological expertise needed to succeed in today's rapidly changing of Science and Technology, ever challenging business climate.
